POWER
LAB—Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power
The
First Baptist Church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and St. Paul’s United
Church of Christ invite children to experience Power Lab—Discovering Jesus’
Miraculous Power, June 2-6. From 9 a.m.
until noon each day, children will learn about Jesus’ miraculous power.
Power
Lab follows Jesus as he heals, helps, and gives power to people who need
him. Bible stories, songs, crafts,
games, and snacks will teach children that Jesus gives us the power to be
thankful, to help others, to be brave, to live with him forever, and to tell
others about God.
All
children who turn 4 by September 1 and who are no older than sixth grade for
the 2008-2009 school year are welcome to attend. Of course, older youth are welcome to join our team of mad
scientists by volunteering to become a lab leader. Adult volunteers are welcome too. Vacation Bible School is free to all who attend.
Our
mission project will be to collect school supplies for the local Food &
Clothing Pantry. Children will be
performing the songs they learn at VBS on Sunday, June 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the
park by the churches.
To
register a child or volunteer to help, please call St. Paul’s Church office at
539-3262 or Tami Hughes at 539-9766.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Age
appropriate faith education for ages three and up. Children learn Bible stories, songs and more about their
Christian faith. Classes are taught by
active members of the faith community who encourage students to grow in their
faith and lead by example. These
classes offer a time of fellowship and worship that the children can share with
members their own age.
A
Sr. High class for grades 9-12 offers a fun and exciting faith-filled adventure
each Sunday focusing on the study of faith in the Real World. This is stimulating group of young people!
Adult
Sunday study sessions include leader-led discussion and study of various
Christian literature.
YOUTH GROUPS
We
have two Youth groups. Both groups are
intended to develop community and fellowship by combining a caring Christian
atmosphere and a whole lot of fun!
The
Junior High Youth group consists of children presently enrolled in grades 6
through 8. Their activities include a
swim party, selling snow cones at the annual conference fall festival, a
haunted trail adventure, wrapping and delivering gifts to the disabled and less
fortunate and other mission projects, overnight lock-ins and regular
meetings.
The
Senior High Youth group consists of students presently enrolled in High
school.. This group gets together for powerful Bible discussion, to play games
or bowling. Other activities include an
over-night lock-in for New Year’s Eve, various musical concerts/festivals and
mission projects.
The
groups strive to encourage a Christian attitude by creating a Christian
atmosphere. Both groups invite new
members and friends to share in the fun, including adults who feel they are
still young at heart. It is very
important for our youth to “belong” and one of our goals is to give them a safe
and loving place where this can happen.
