Parish Nurse

A parish nurse focuses on the whole person to emphasize wellness, disease prevention and health promotion, including healthy spirituality. Care is based on the belief that health is growth toward well being and emphasizes the interrelationship of body, mind and spirit. Health is related to everything a person does, thinks, and feels and is not merely the absence of disease. Here are just some of the services a parish nurse can provide:

· Help in accessing and navigating the health system
· Programs to promote healthy exercise and nutrition
· Education on health issues
· Support groups
· Health screenings
· Assistance to new parents
· Support for hospitalized or homebound family members

Counseling Services

In collaboration with Hoyleton Family and Youth Services, we offer counseling on site. A trained Licensed Professional Counselor is available by appointment to offer individual and family counseling. Life can be difficult, but with help, solutions to problems can be found.

Please call the Church Office at 618-539-3262 for more information about the services offered

Stephen Ministry

St. Paul's offers Stephen Ministry, a confidential lay care-giving ministry, to those in the community in need of a companion to walk with them through difficult times.

For more information on Stephen Ministry, please contact Pastor Earl Crecelius.

Food and Clothing Bank

Pantry

The Food and Clothing Bank is a non profit organization which helps meet food and clothing needs of needy families living in the Freeburg High School District (Freeburg, Smithton, Fayetteville, St. Libory, Floraville, and Paderborn). The idea for the Food and Clothing Bank started in 1976 at a planning meeting at St. Paul’s U.C.C. in Freeburg. The group’s first goal was to provide emergency food and clothing help to needy families. In 1984 the group added a monthly Food Pantry to help families on a monthly basis. The Food and Clothing Bank is governed by a Board of 20 members representing all of our local churches and has been housed at St. Paul’s U.C.C. since 1976.

The monthly Food Pantry is held on the third Thursday of each month from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Parish House, 8 North Belleville Street, Freeburg. Pantry sign up begins at 1:30 p.m. To be eligible for the Food Pantry a person must:
